Meet Alyssia Roundtree: Alaska’s Next USA Ambassador

There’s something special about an athlete who shows up with a 4.0 GPA, earns a varsity starting spot as a freshman, and does it all with genuine character. That’s Alyssia Roundtree from Wrangell, Alaska — and she’s our next SAWUSA USA Ambassador.

    The Selection Story

Alyssia didn’t just apply to SAWUSA. She earned her invitation through the exact qualities we look for: work ethic, coachability, leadership, and the kind of character that makes you want to follow her into battle.

Her coach’s recommendation said it best — Alyssia listens, applies feedback, and genuinely wants to improve. She tutors teammates. She balances elite academics with elite athletics. She leads by example.

    That’s not luck. That’s discipline.

    Why SAWUSA Selected Her

Here’s what separates SAWUSA from every other youth sports experience out there: we’re not looking for the most talented athletes. We’re looking for high-character athletes with the heart to represent the USA on a global stage.

Alyssia checks every box. She’s a Women’s Basketball player (Class of 2029) who competes with real fire. But more importantly, she’s the kind of person you want wearing the USA jersey overseas. She respects the opportunity. She’ll compete hard. And she’ll grow from the experience in ways that go way beyond basketball.

Japan 2027: The Tokyo Exhibition Tour

This summer, Alyssia will travel to Japan for SAWUSA’s 2027 Tokyo Exhibition Tour.

She’ll compete against international opponents. She’ll experience a culture completely different from Wrangell. She’ll build friendships with other high-character athletes from across the country. And she’ll come home changed — more confident, more aware, and more proud to represent the USA.

This isn’t a club team trip. It’s not a recruiting showcase. It’s an invitation-only international experience designed for athletes who are ready to grow as ambassadors, competitors, and leaders.

    What Makes SAWUSA Different

We’ve been sending athletes abroad for over 15 years. Every tour is coach-led. Every athlete is vetted. Every experience is designed to stretch young people outside their comfort zones and help them discover what they’re truly capable of.

The competition is real. The culture is immersive. The character development is transformative.

    Your Athlete Could Be Next

If you know a high-character athlete (ages 10–25) who’s ready for something bigger than their club team, we want to hear about them.
