Highlights, What Parents Ask, and How to Apply for 2027
If you’re a parent of a 15–18-year-old athlete, you already know the summer calendar flies by. One minute it’s tryouts and team camps… the next minute you’re staring at August thinking, “Wait—what did we actually do this summer that mattered?”
That’s exactly why we love wrapping up our SAWUSA summer tours: with real takeaways, real parent answers, and a clear next step if your athlete is ready for something bigger.
This is your Summer 2026 SAWUSA tour wrap-up—what we did, what athletes gained, and what parents always ask before they hit “Apply.”
First: THANK YOU to our Summer 2026 travelers
Before anything else—thank you.
To every athlete who competed, represented, and showed up with the right attitude… and to every parent and family member who trusted us with your child overseas… we don’t take that lightly.
Summer 2026 was special because of you.
And we’ve been blown away by the positive feedback coming in after the trips—messages, emails, and reviews from families who saw real growth in their athlete and real value in the experience.
If you were on a Summer 2026 tour: thank you for being part of the SAWUSA family.
Summer 2026 in one line: 5 tours, a ton of growth
This summer we ran 5 SAWUSA tours—and if you’ve ever traveled with athletes (or raised one), you know that means 5 different groups, 5 different team dynamics, and 5 sets of moments where kids leveled up fast.
Here’s where we went this summer:
- United World Games (Austria and Italy)
- Portugal Basketball Festival (Portugal and Spain)
- Lisboa Lacrosse Cup (Portugal and Spain)
- Argentina Soccer Experience
- Costa Rica Adventure
What Summer 2026 reminded us (again): This isn’t a vacation
Yes, our tours are fun. Yes, the photos are insane. But the biggest “wins” from Summer 2026 weren’t just the sightseeing.
They were the moments that changed how athletes see themselves:
- Being selected and told: You’re representing the USA as an ambassador
- Competing internationally and realizing the game is bigger than their hometown
- Navigating airports, new cultures, new teammates, and new expectations
- Watching your athlete grow up in real time—more confident, more grateful, more mature
Parents tell us the same thing every year:
- “I didn’t expect my kid to come back like this.”
- “They’re more independent.”
- “They’re motivated again.”
That’s the point.
Common parent questions we hear every single year
If you’re considering SAWUSA for 2027, here are the questions parents ask most—plus the straight answers.
“Is SAWUSA legit?”
Yes. SAWUSA has been sending athletes abroad since 2009.
We’re selective (roughly a 15% acceptance rate), we interview every athlete, and we build tours around character, leadership, and cultural immersion—not just filling spots.
“Is this just for elite athletes?”
We’re looking for talent, yes—but we’re not only selecting based on stats.
We’re looking for coachability, leadership, maturity, and the kind of athlete you’d trust to represent the USA well.
“Is it safe?”
Safety is not an afterthought for us—it’s built into how we operate.
Tours are structured, supervised, and run with clear expectations. Families also have access to consistent communication during the trip.
“What’s included?”
Our tours are designed to be all-inclusive: flights, hotels, meals, ground transportation, excursions, and athletic activities.
“What age is best?”
For parents of 15–18-year-olds, you’re in the sweet spot.
Athletes in this range are old enough to fully appreciate the experience and young enough to build momentum for multiple years.
“What if my athlete has never traveled internationally?”
That’s more common than you think.
A huge part of what makes this experience transformative is that it stretches athletes (in a good way) and helps them build confidence in unfamiliar environments.
What makes SAWUSA different (and why parents choose us)
Let’s be honest: parents are skeptical. You should be.
There are a lot of “sports travel” options out there that feel like:
- pay-to-play
- a glorified vacation
- a resume line
SAWUSA is different.
Invitation-only + selective
We don’t take everyone. Athletes apply, submit materials, and interview. That selectivity matters—because it changes how your athlete carries themselves from day one.
Led by former college coaches
Our tours are led by people who understand athletes, teams, standards, and accountability.
Built around character + culture
Yes, we compete. Yes, we train.
But the bigger mission is helping athletes become the kind of young adult you’re proud to send into the world.
